As sure as Monday follows Sunday, Melanie Phillips is back to declare the end of civilisation as we know it. She’s still got a bonfire up her arse over two topics that are guaranteed to get the Mailites frothing into an indignant rage: The Meddling EU and Christianity.
The story, as you might already have read, is about a couple who have been banned from adopting:
This was a ruling handed down in the High Court, which effectively upheld the ban on a black Christian couple, Eunice and Owen Johns, from fostering children because they refused to undertake to tell a child that homosexuality was acceptable.
Obviously, it’s important that they’re black as well, so congratulations for mentioning that.
Yet Lord Justice Munby and Mr Justice Beatson justified the ban by ruling that the couple’s attitude to homosexuality was a legitimate reason to withhold official approval from them. Such people are therefore effectively being punished for having the wrong attitudes. This is the kind of behaviour associated with totalitarian societies, not liberal Britain.
I bet that if it were a family with an opinion she disagreed with, she wouldn’t have the same sympathy.
More jaw-dropping still, the children whose ‘right’ to be told that homosexuality is acceptable is supposedly infringed by the Johns’ Christian beliefs would all be under ten years of age.
Kids. Get. Older. You mental, mental old bat.
And despite the judges’ insistence that they are not taking an anti-Christian position, that is precisely what their ruling does. For it effectively holds that traditional Christian beliefs harm children.
Do we have to play this game again?
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination. (Leviticus :18)
Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. (Romans 1:27)
One from the Old Testament and one from the New.
Should the Government allow a child to be brought up in an environment where they’ll be told that if they realise they’re homosexual, they’ll burn in Hell forever? I’d imagine that yes, that would fuck you up. It also breeds an intolerant attitude that has consequences outside of just that one child.
Indeed, the judges went much further and said there was no place in law for Christian beliefs, since ‘the laws and usages of the realm do not include Christianity’.
Works for me: As a non-Christian, as long as they’re not ruining anyone’s lives, I’m not really fussed either way what they think about gays, and their beliefs shouldn’t form any part of the law. I’ll just drop in a quick mention of Sharia Law here, since that’s a faith-based judicial system, and one that drives the Mail fucking spare.
And so she witters on for another several hundred tedious words that we’ll skip over for the sake of everyone’s sanity. Yes Mel, the EU wants to destroy this country and everything we hold dear. Sit down, eh?
As for the readers’ comments, at the time of writing, this is one of the highest rated:
Melanie when are you going to wake up, this country has been infiltrated by hard Left radical Socialists who want to destroy Christianity, why is Darwinism being promoted in the schools? Read the Karl Marx Communist manifesto to see why they are trying to destroy Christianity, it’s all about removing the morals from society and destroying the family. wake up.

Hint: Darwinism is being taught because it’s factually accurate. If your religion contradicts facts, then it’s not for the country to shut down because you got it wrong. You wacky conspiracy seeking loon.

That comment at the end has to be satire. Please tell me it’s satire.
I can find OT quotes that clearly state that anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death. And the Biblical Sabbath is a Saturday.
Yeah antipc, hard left Marxists would be really keen to “promote” Darwinism, what with it seemingly contradicting their world view.
