Pick Me Up magazine, one of the nation’s favourite compendia of people’s horrible lives, is on Facebook. They asked: “How dramatic was Corrie last night? What’s the most exciting thing that’s happened in your street? “
Unfortunately, most of their readers live on streets that are paved with used needles rather than the cobbles of Corrie (is that right? We watched it for the first time the other night when that tram crashed, and didn’t really know what was going on).
Their stories are less “Coronation Street” and more “Oh god, just move out of your street”…
These are some of our favourites…
“I’ve been asked a question, so I must answer it…”:
nothing they are mostly older people living in this street. x
the most exiting thing that happens in our steet is the bins being emptied lol
Our street? Oooh God, erm…someone’s bin once got knocked over – what a drama!
The neighbours from Hell:
the mostexciting thng that happened in my street was me and my family moving here lol we ceainly liven up the street
Nout happens on my street n e more. The last thing that happened was wen my neighbour chased her fella down the street hitting him with the side of a bed that they wer puttin 2getha becoz he accused her of cheatin with a woman. She then told me that her and her lady friend wer just showin each otha ther scars from wen they got stitches afta giving birth. It was highly amusing lol x
The fear of zombies:
I live in apartments and our rubbish bin is downstairs it was sealed off last year because a body had been discovered in there I refuse point blank to take my rubbish in that particiluar bin shed!!
The “Thanks For That” Award:
we had a old bingo hall by us and before they kocked it down they pulled some old classic cars from it.
The MENSA award for diligence:
My neighbour was having affair with his neighbour next door to him ,while his wife was working, and i was babysiting for him and i had no idea,i should of twigged really when he came round and said can i babysit for him ,while he went to the golf club ,but it was pitched dark lol ,anyway his wife found out in the end,and chucked him out ,was throwing all his clothes out of the window ,and shouting and screaming at him
The “Can We Buy The Rights To The Movie?” Award:
The most exciting thing to happen in my street was the time when Geri Halliwells chauffer was lost & tirned in to my street & asked my dad for directions. Geri was sat in the back with the window down a little smiling. Made my day xx
‘my christmas’ by sally aged 5:
we live in on a really nice quiet road, well last year xmas eve a man across road car set on fire for no reason at 3 am in the morning, i woke to the loud bang and bright orange flames, needless to say we watched the fireman (phwoarrr) put it out then we all opened our pressies early :) x
Brookside 2:
the police are always up on our street a family across the road got arested so all the neighbours on our cul de sac stood outside watching which was quite entertaining but that kind of stuff always happens where i live we must get the polic…e up our road at least once a week but even though that happens theres some grass at the top of the cul de sac where all the children can play safely, on bonfire night we have firworks for the street and in summer weve had street bbqs and im happy to bring my daughters up on this street where everyone keeps and eye out for each others children and i could go to almost anyones house for a cup of sugar its a great place xx
But our favourite by a long shot is this tragic short story. It’s like Romeo and Juliet, set on a council estate. With a bonus unnecessary exclamation mark:
My family always caused summat in one way or another yrs ago my mum was shot at our house so that caused mania in our street. Then in 2000 my dad hung himself at home same house my mum died in so that caused more!
